Christmas needs Christmas songs. It’s not chic to drive your car with your sweetheart without a romantic Christmas song playing. A Christmas party is not a Christmas party without the happiest Christmas songs on. Christmas songs that everyone knows make people want to buy Christmas presents. Christmas songs are very practical music. It exists only to add color to Christmas.

For me, “A Christmas Gift For You” is almost all I need at Christmas time. I don’t remember clearly about each song. I think this is the kind of music that is better to be heard repeatedly as an album. But for now, let’s start with this very Phil Spector song.

If you want to have a romantic Christmas, this is the man for the job. This voice is nothing short of magic. It’s so natural, not too much, it’s as if he’s carefully speaking the lyrics, word for word. Every image blend into the melody. I didn’t appreciate him when I was young, but he has become one of the jazz vocalists I listen to most often.

The Christmas Song – Nat “King” Cole

Not a Christmas song, but Nat “King” Cole’s “After Midnight” is a must listen. The jazz is here.

So, what does a Christmas song need Christmas? Would I want to listen to Phil Spector’s Christmas album at any other time of the year? Christmas songs are for Christmas only. In that sense Christmas songs need Christmas. (It’s Christmas, but it’s too logical…)

Only this song I often listen to at any other time of the year. This is a famous Christmas song, but I can’t think of a practical occasion to play this song at Christmas time. I guess it’s true that Christmas is the time to think about world peace, but I personally like to forget about everything at Christmas time. But it’s a good song, simple but moving.

Happy Xmas (War Is Over) – John Lennon

Finally, I’d like to introduce you to the first Christmas song I ever wrote. It was supposed to be a romantic song, but a bit of John’s soul got mixed in it on the way of this song. In the end, everything is forgotten and go back to being romantic. Please use it if you like!

Kaneko’s Song of the Day

The place even Santa can’t reach
Lyrics: Kaneko Chalin

Shall we book a fancy restaurant?
Shall we gather friends for all night of fun?
We’ll drink wine in a cabin in the trees
We’ll make love in the place even Santa can’t reach

Shall we polish a stone down from a star?
Shall we fly a drone to search for reindeer?
We’ll drink wine in a cabin in the trees
We’ll make love in the place even Santa can’t reach

I wish all can be with someone to love
I wish all can pray for the loving ones
I wish all can have any hope in light of the next day sun
So, let’s paint all country’s every battle plane white and red
So, let’s put Santa hats on all country’s every powers’ head
So, let’s lit a candle at all country’s every child’s bed

And let’s make everything has gone
And stare at together all alone

Shall we go to a Presley dinner show?
Shall we watch the fireworks in the snow?
We’ll drink wine in a cabin in trees
We’ll make love in the place even Santa can’t reach

I wish all can be with someone to love
I wish all can pray for the loving ones
I wish all can have any hope in the light of the next day sun
So, let’s paint all country’s every battle plane white and red
So, let’s put Santa hats on all coutntry’s every powers’ head
So, let’s lit a candle at all country’s every child’s bed

And let’s make everything has gone
And stare at together all alone
