The chord is a simple repetition. I wonder if the reason so many songs have been written with this chord is because everyone feels a nostalgia that makes their heart ache. Music is wonder. My heart is moved purely by the sound. Of all the songs written with this chord, this is the first one that comes to my mind. Weezer created many heartbreaking songs, but this one is the best for me. My song that I’m going to introduce last has the word “Swingin'” in the chorus, but my song never ever swing… I’ve loved a lot of jazz since I was junior high school boy when I first heard Charlie Parker, but every song I wrote is not jazz at all. But I love the old jazz (almost 100 years old!) that is so absolutely SWINGY that it takes you somewhere else the moment you listen to it. I want Louis Armstrong to be played endlessly at my funeral.
