DISCO! DISCO! DISCO! written by Beach Yunko

Recommended disco music selected by Beach Yunko

Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish, whose roots music is 70’s-80’s soul music, disco, funk, etc. We have collected disco numbers selected by the members of Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish. This time, the second volume is Beach Yunko’s version.

The Bar-Kays – Shut The Funk Up

Released in 1977, the same year Saturday Night Fever was released.
This disco tune was released in 1977, the same year that Saturday Night Fever was released, by a long-established band that led Memphis soul together with staxrecords.
This band, which is still active today and has continued to produce the best songs that match the times, is, so to speak, the history of soul itself.
It is said that when this great scripture is deciphered, all soul power will be released.

Van McCoy & The Soul City Symphony (Stylistic Orchestra) – The Hustle

Included in the album Disco Baby.
While many of the songs are covers, this song is the main song prepared as an original.
The flute tone is impressive, and this unique “syncopation,” which is essential for disco, is probably the biggest factor that made it such a classic.
Disco is syncopation. This song, though seemingly simple, teaches us something important about music.
Sensu, Yunko, and their house brothers must have this album.

Cheryl Lynn – Got to Be Real

It is a disco anthem that is so well-known.
Like many, I was drawn into disco with this song.
The intro is very distinctive,
The distinctive intro is the “HIT” influence that is unique to disco music, and it is the same with our “Shining Steps”.
Our “Shining Steps” is also influenced by “HIT”.

Gary’s Gang – Let’s Love Dance Tonight

It was a disco hit in 1979.
With its distinctive xylophone sound, this song has all the elements of a favorite disco song.
In this song, she sings, “I’m feeling blue because I’m leaving you,” and then she says, “Let’s dance tonight.
Love is eternal,” he sings, and it’s not fair that such a song is up-tempo!
There are many versions of the song, with different lengths of the intro, but this green one is the one to listen to for sure.
If you forget which one to listen to, please DM me.
I’ll tell you which one is the green one.

Brick – Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody

Released in 1977,
Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody is an up-tempo song that starts with a clean drum fill-in.
If you like percussive guitar, you may listen to it over and over.
If you watch the Soul Train video, you’ll see that everyone is pretty shy. LOL.
But the music is pretty hard.
It’s all about the gap in the world.
