Recommended disco music selected by Sense Planet

Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish, whose roots music is 70’s-80’s soul music, disco, funk, etc. Here is a collection of disco numbers selected by the members of Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish. First, let’s take a look at Sensu Planet, the vocalist of Sensu Planet.

Boney M – Sunny

This song is an essential root of “Shining Steps” released this time.
When we stayed at the inn where we filmed the music video for “Crystal Wave” in the summer, we took turns playing songs, and I have the best memory of all of us dancing to this song.
I used the chord progression of this song as a reference when I was composing the song. The title “Shining Steps” is a combination of “disco dancing steps” and “shining steps of life,” but I chose “Shining” because I wanted to express the roots of “Sunny” in the song. I chose “Shining” because I wanted to express my roots in “Sunny”.

Earth, Wind & Fire – Boogie Wonderland

I think it may be my favorite EW&F song.
When I heard the final version of “Shining Steps,” this was the first song I remembered.
I thought to myself, “This four-strike kick is so Boogie Wonderland. Yeah, right?”
The dramatic strings and groove are a big influence on their music, as is Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish, another space-themed band like EW&F. All members of the band are strongly influenced by it.

A Taste Of Honey – Ain’t Nothing But A Party

If it rings a bell, you’ll recognize it right away.
The opening tutti of “Shining Steps” was inspired by this song.
Yunko’s guitar and Bandado’s bass also seem to be influenced by this song. Those two do it!

Michael Jackson – Love Never Felt So Good

I’m too much of a soul music guy, so I’m wearing Michael’s beloved G.H. Bass loafers. …but let me preface this by saying that Michael’s subtle and soulful singing style had a big impact on my vocal style.
Michael’s sensitive and soulful way of singing has greatly influenced my vocal style.
I have good memories that my vocal lesson teacher was also a big fan of Michael’s.
Meeting Michael’s songs was like he gave me a place to belong, saying, “Even with such a delicate and gentle voice, you can sing such passionate songs that convey life so well.
The way he sings “lady” and “baby” in the chorus of “Shining Steps” is just like Michael. I will keep listening to this song.

Yvonne Elliman – If I Can’t Have You

It is difficult to choose only one song from the movie Saturday Night Fever!
This is one of those records that I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played it at home.
The dramatic and tragic chorus is an influence that needs no explanation.

Sensu Planet & The Howling Fish – Shining Steps

And the last one is of course our “Shining Steps”. I don’t want to write anything about it because it would sound like an advertisement, but it is a song that I strongly recommend you to listen to.
